Derek Anthony Dyrenforth is an American born in Santa Monica, California. He lived most of his life in Los Angeles, California. He attended California State University Northridge where he studied politics and philosophy and obtained a degree in Political Science. With his degree, he wanted to become a teacher and volunteered as a teaching assistant for different schools. In April 2015, he came to Ibaraki Prefecture and has been working as an Assistant English Teacher (AET) for the city of Mito. He is an AET at four different schools, two Kindergartens and two Elementary schools.
In his free time, he studied Japanese language and history. He even assisted in teaching Japanese at one of his former language schools. His other hobbies include to cooking and baking that he learned from his Mother and Grandmother. He can make American, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese and Italian foods. He also likes to travel, go hiking, taking photographs.
